Sanibel, FL-November 15, 2016—Over 600 USSSA Members and guests from all across the country have gathered in Fort Myers, FL as the USSSA hosts its 49th Annual Meeting at the Sanibel Harbour Marriot Resort & Spa.
USSSA CEO Don DeDonatis took a moment amidst the excitement to say a few words, "This is something we always look forward to as a company, a chance to come together as an association to assess the past year and look to the future, this year especially, with a move to Viera very soon we are very excited for what's to come in 2017."
Sunday was the official start of the 49th Annual Meeting featuring the first of many meetings to be held this week with the current USSSA Board of Directors,Vice President’s, National & State Directors, sponsors, players and guests that make up the sports association.
All week long open meetings, break out sessions and work shops will be held to evaluate the past year and look forward to the new chapter of USSSA. The weeklong convention concludes on Friday, November 18th with the Annual Hall of Fame “Celebration of Excellence” Induction & Awards Gala during which the 2016 Hall of Fame Class will be honored for their individual contributions to USSSA.
Ten inductees will be honored Friday night during the “Celebration of Excellence” including Pat Ryan, Don DeDonatis III, BJ Fulk, Shaun Marcum, Doug Reed, Cat Osterman, Billy Lee Yarbrough, Jerry Backman, Herb Price and Elliot “Butch” Parnes. They will join an esteemed USSSA Hall of Fame legacy that continues to grow every year.
Some highlights to expect throughout the week include the first general assembly on Tuesday, November 15th where the entire association will join together for a group welcome. Wednesday, November 16th will feature a change of pace throughout the day starting with the Annual USSSA Golf Tournament and ending with the corn hole tournament and poolside party later in the night. Thursday night, November 17th, is exhibitor’s night and will feature various sponsors, manufacturers and representatives in a trade show setting.
